April 5, 2011 - Canonsburg, PA – NABCO, Inc. today announced that first responders in Arlington, Texas kept one of the Pennsylvania company's Suspect Parcel Containment Vessels at Cowboys Stadium during Super Bowl XLV to help protect the event's 103,000-plus fans and players against the threat of an incident or attack involving an explosive device. NABCO's role in the Super Bowl was previously undisclosed due to event security.
"We are proud that our Pennsylvania-built product was with the Steelers and their fans during Super Bowl Forty-Five," said NABCO CEO Frank Tobin. "While out of sight during the action, our SPCV was part of the security game plan to help keep the stadium safe for this high-profile event."
The NABCO Model SPCV was designed to quickly and safely contain a package or item that has been identified as suspicious or potentially dangerous. It provides a safe way to contain a suspect package and move it away from a populated area until an emergency response team arrives. The SPCV's size allows for quick and easy deployment in various settings, making it ideal for use by the Arlington Fire Department, which planned to tow the SPCV with any suspicious item inside away from Cowboys Stadium if the need arose.
NABCO containment vessels are used at airports and a variety of other facilities to contain suspect luggage and parcels discovered during security screenings. The Arlington Fire Department is one of hundreds of law enforcement and defense agencies around the world that rely on NABCO solutions to safeguard personnel, facilities, communities and the environment against chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) threats.
"Wherever a screening process is utilized to protect a stadium, court house, airport, or federal building, our SPCVs can contain a suspect package and move it to a safe area," said Tobin. "We look forward to accompanying the Steelers again at Super Bowl Forty-Six."
