India’s Armed Forces Committee Successfully Tests NABCO Total Containment Vessel

NABCO TCV is only solution tested by Indian military after competitors fail to show at vital, multi-service evaluation

December 8, 2010 - Canonsburg, PA – NABCO, Inc. today announced that its Total Containment Vessel (TCV) was the only explosive and CBRN containment solution to withstand testing by the joint Central Para-Military Forces Committee of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. During a recent three-week field trial, NABCO’s competitors failed to show fearing poor performance against the Committee’s rigorous test conditions.

“We are very pleased with the performance of the NABCO total containment vessel under the extreme conditions created by repeated explosive tests,” said NABCO CEO Frank Tobin. “NABCO’s total containment vessel may be used with confidence by India’s security and military organizations to protect country, people and forces against asymmetric threats.”

The NABCO TCV earned approval for its ability to remain gas-tight at full capacity, hold pressure indefinitely after a detonation, and withstand 10 maximum-capacity live-fire “shots” of explosives. The field trials were witnessed by representatives of India’s National Security Guard, Central Reserve Police Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Border Security Force.

NABCO was the only company willing to prove that its product could perform during the field trials, and the test results demonstrate the superior capabilities of the NABCO TCV, which is a perfect solution for EOD/BD personnel.

Approved by the U.S. Department of Defense for use across military service branches, NABCO TCVs are used by military organizations and law enforcement agencies around the world to safeguard personnel, facilities, communities and the environment against chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) threats.

NABCO TCVs provide maximum stand-off distances for public safety personnel and can fully contain a biological or chemical hazard within an improvised explosive device, even after detonation, allowing for more comprehensive crisis management capabilities. NABCO TCVs also feature a sampling capability to identify hazardous agents, and may be paired with a decontamination system.

“India’s successful test of the NABCO TCV is a strong vote of confidence in our product and our people,” said Tobin. “As the only containment solution tested by the Indian Armed Forces Committee, we are uniquely positioned for success in this market and look forward to earning new business in the region.”
