Defense Department Approves Use of NABCO Total Containment Vessels for Explosive Threat Response Across Services

DoD Explosives Safety Board approves NABCO TCVs for ordnance, IED disposal

November 5, 2010 - Canonsburg, PA – NABCO, Inc. today announced that its line of Total Containment Vessels (TCVs) recently received approval from both the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board (DDESB) and the Air Force Safety Center.

“We are proud to earn this important seal of approval from the Department of Defense,” said NABCO CEO Frank Tobin. “While our total containment vessels have been used by military services for decades, this approval means even greater access to equipment, streamlined safety protocols and utmost confidence for military professionals that our solutions perform above and beyond acceptable limits.”

In its approval memo, the DDESB said that testing of earlier NABCO TCV variants combined with the most recent approval “demonstrates the significant safety factor associated with the initial vessel’s design, as well as with the follow-on NABCO models 42 and 64 Total Containment Vessels.”

NABCO TCVs are used by military units across service branches with responsibility for emergency response, transportation and mitigation of threats such as unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices. This approval helps ensure continuity across services in the way the TCV is utilized.
